Questions & Answers (Q & A)

What is Safe Mode

Question:
"What is Safe mode and when it pops up how do you get out of it the easy way?"

Answer:

Most users only access <Safe Mode> after a hard crash or similar problem with the computer occurs. Instead of letting you access your normal desktop, the computer opens a default desktop with <Safe> printed in each corner.

Why does it do this? The crash may have messed up your settings. <Safe Mode> starts with all of Window's default settings, allowing you to go in to fix any problems that occurred.

What does this mean for the average computer user? Not much. When you're in <Safe Mode> just close down the computer as you usually would, and then restart it again. This usually takes care of whatever the problem is, as it gives the computer a chance to reset itself.

If your computer goes into <Safe Mode> every time you start it up, it's an indication that there's a real problem. In that situation, my advice would be to get it to a technician for a check up.
