How to Change Your Computers' Standby Settings
Question:
Is it possible to change the settings on my computer that control
when my computer goes on "standby".
Answer:
After a set period of inactivity, a computer will automatically go into
standby mode to conserve power. It is in your "power" to change
your computer's standby settings.
Here's how:
- Select <Start>
- Select the <Settings>
option
- In the side
menu that appears, select the <Control Panel> option
- When the Control
Panel opens, locate the Power Management icon and select it. (For
sighted users, it's a little picture of a battery and a plug.)
- About halfway
down the Power Management screen you'll find a pull-down menu called
<System standby>
- From the menu,
you'll find a list of times. Choose the time -- how long you want
the computer to wait before going on standby
- Next, select
<Apply> to set the change, and then <OK> to exit
