Questions & Answers (Q & A)

Changing File Types

Question:
"I run my computer with Windows 98 and Internet Explorer currently. At one point in time I did have Netscape 4.7 & later 6 and had no problems opening JPEG files as Netscape did this. I have since taken out the Netscape and now cannot open JPEG files as it keeps telling me The Netscape exe. cannot be found. Can you help me to figure out how to open these type of files."

Answer:

Go to <Start>

Select <Settings>

Choose <File Options> from pop up menu

Select the Tab for <File Types>

From the Registered File Types box, scroll down until you find <JPEG>

Click on <Edit> to the right of the box

Then in the Action box, double click on <OPEN>

That will cause a dialogue box to open where you would browse to select IE as the program to view JPEG files with ... rather than Netscape.exe
