DAWN’s mandate is to end the poverty, isolation, discrimination and violence experienced by women and gender-diverse people with disabilities and Deaf people on the gender spectrum living in Canada as well as promote their advancement and inclusion by creating change at a systemic level.
General expectations of a Manager at DAWN
A manager at DAWN works closely with the Directors’ team as well as coordination and administrative staff to ensure the mission, vision and values of the organization are propagated. Day-to-day this looks like project and people management within the constructs of a civil society organization that is dedicated to advancement. The team at DAWN is collaborative in nature. The manager’s role is supported by the CEO and Directors’ team while being responsible for the support of coordinators, officers and the administrative staff.
Expectations of an Outreach and Project Manager at DAWN
• Your first 100 days
You will work with the Directors’ team for a comprehensive on-boarding. We will give you time to absorb the culture, history and communications needs of DAWN.
• Your first year
Your first year at DAWN will be spent creating and supporting projects for DAWN. You will keep the “trains running on time” as you support the directors and front line staff to complete their work.

Job description
The Outreach and Project Manager will be primarily responsible for working with our sectoral partners. Working closely with the project(s) team, the Outreach and Project Manager will support our partners in developing the resources and tools needed for integrating the experiences of women with disabilities and Deaf women into their regular work. They will act as a bridge between the operational and management team. The Outreach and Project Manager plays a key role in increasing our capacity through the development of our network and supporting our partners.
Management and development duties
• Participates in the management of the organization through participation in management team activities and meetings;
• Co-manages relationships and agreements with external partners;
• Provides strategic advice and direction for the expansion and promotion of the organization;
• Assists and supports partners in leveraging resources and funding from other sources.
Outreach and general duties
• Ongoing liaising with our national, provincial and territorial partners through a range of communications vehicles;
• Support to partners in developing a sustained commitment to women and girls with disabilities in their on-going work through a range of activities;
• Building a strong network of reliable and inclusive community partners;
• Maintaining regular communications with DAWN’s team, external consultants, partners, funders, and a range of national, provincial/territorial partners;
• Includes organizing and participating in meetings and conducting appropriate follow-up to ensure that information and updates are shared internally and with all relevant stakeholders;
• Works closely with the Director team;
• Conducts training sessions and workshops with partners, and disseminates educational and informational materials;
• Supports the development of new and related educational, outreach and promotional materials with partners.
Project and administrative coordination
• Support and monitor the organizational budget in collaboration with the finance coordinator;
• Manages projects, Develops grants, project budget and activities and reports progress;
• Manages and prepares reports on project budgets, including quarterly cash flow, projections, as well as narrative interim and final reports;
• Develops new grant proposals as required.
Other
• Provides direction and assists in the execution of public and special events;
• Other special projects as assigned;
• Technical support.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated knowledge of the communities that we represent;
• Experience with project management and project support;
• Strong knowledge of not-for-profit, charitable, private or public sectors;
• A university degree or equivalency in a related experience;
• Experience working with a volunteer Board of directors;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills;
• Bilingualism (French/English) is strongly desired and would be an asset, however not a requirement;
• Knowledge of ASL/LSQ is also an asset.

Salary range: $50,000 - $65,000
DAWN Canada offers competitive benefits and vacation packages. A first-year employee starts with three weeks of vacation.
